2016 Funded Imagine Peace Summer Camp, Greece
if you’re an international student aged 17 to 25, who is eager to make a difference in people’s lives and understand the importance of the Olympic values, you are invited to participate in the Imagine Peace Summer Camp and become a member of a community of global emerging leaders from around the globe!
That said, International Olympic Truce Centre (IOTC) and under the auspices of the United Nations Office on Sport for Development and Peace (UNOSDP) are organising the second Imagine Peace Summer Camp.
Roughly Fifty participants from more than fifteen countries of the world with different cultural and political backgrounds will come together for one week from 24 to 31 July 2016 in Ancient Olympia to take part in a series of educational workshops and sports activities that aim to promote equality and peace, and explore the role of sport in the peaceful resolution of conflict.
Selected participants will be split into groups of up to seventeen people, which will be balanced in terms of gender and reflect the diversity of participants’ communities. A team of experienced facilitators, volunteers and Olympic champions will facilitate the programme.
Eligibility requirements
Participants should be:
between the ages of 17 and 25
fluent in English and able to write in it.
available and fully dedicated to taking part in the Imagine Peace Summer Camp
involved in youth or community projects in their own community and be motivated to implement youth initiatives for peace building following the event
curious, open-minded and appreciative of diversity.
Assisted places scheme
The assisted places scheme covers all programme costs within Greece including accommodation, meals and transport between Athens and Ancient Olympia.
Deadline for applications: 1 March 2016 (23.59)
Cost of attendance
Selected participants will be required to cover their own international travel costs to and from Athens and any related personal expenses.
